Sector-wise Analysis of Recruiting Trends

The agricultural sector offers diverse career opportunities across various domains:

IT/Software

With the rise of digital agriculture, many companies are investing in agri-tech solutions. Roles include Software Developer, Data Analyst, AI/ML Engineer, Product Manager, and Technical Consultant.

Core Engineering

Graduates find opportunities in engineering firms focused on agricultural machinery, irrigation systems, water management, and soil conservation technologies.

Finance

Some graduates work in financial institutions offering credit products for farmers or investment funds focused on agri-business ventures.

Consulting

Consulting firms often seek experts in agricultural policy, market analysis, and rural development to advise governments and organizations.

Analytics

Data analysts are increasingly needed in agri-tech companies to interpret farming data, optimize production, and improve decision-making processes.

PSUs

Public Sector Undertakings like ITC, Mahindra & Mahindra, and ICAR offer stable career paths for qualified engineers with good job security and benefits.

Internship Season

The internship season typically begins in the third year of the program. Students are encouraged to apply for internships in relevant organizations such as research labs, agri-tech companies, government departments, and NGOs.

Historically, students have received stipends ranging from INR 10,000 to INR 25,000 per month depending on the organization and nature of work. Some internships are extended into full-time employment offers upon successful completion.

Notable internships include projects with ITC Limited in crop monitoring using drones, research at IARI in developing drought-resistant wheat varieties, and policy analysis at the Ministry of Agriculture.
