Project-Based Learning Philosophy
O P Jindal University Raigarh believes that project-based learning is essential for developing competent, reflective practitioners who can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. Our approach encourages students to engage in meaningful research projects, community health initiatives, and collaborative learning experiences.
Mini-projects are assigned at the end of each semester, typically lasting 6-8 weeks. These projects require students to identify a healthcare issue within their local community or a specific patient population. They must design a study, collect data, analyze findings, and present recommendations for improvement.
The final-year thesis/capstone project is an extensive research endeavor that spans the entire academic year. Students select a topic relevant to current nursing practice or emerging trends in healthcare. They work closely with faculty mentors who guide them through literature reviews, methodology selection, data collection, analysis, and presentation preparation.
Project selection begins early in the final year, with students submitting proposals for review by the departmental committee. Proposals are evaluated based on feasibility, relevance to nursing practice, and alignment with current research priorities. Once approved, students form teams or work independently depending on project requirements.
Faculty mentors play a crucial role in guiding students throughout their projects. They provide regular feedback, suggest resources, and ensure that research ethics are maintained. Students receive structured support through weekly meetings, writing workshops, and peer review sessions to enhance the quality of their work.
