Fee Components Explained

Tuition Fee: This covers the cost of instruction, academic resources, and access to laboratory facilities. It is charged per semester and includes fees for textbooks, digital materials, and software licenses.

Hostel Rent: Accommodation charges vary based on room type (single, double, triple sharing). Students can choose from different hostel blocks with varying amenities such as Wi-Fi, laundry services, and recreational facilities.

Mess Advance: This amount covers meals for the entire semester and is adjusted at the end of the term. The mess billing system includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening snacks, ensuring balanced nutrition for students.

Student Benevolent Fund: A nominal fee collected to support students facing financial difficulties or emergencies. Contributions are voluntary but encouraged to promote a sense of community among students.

Medical Fees: Covers basic healthcare services provided on campus, including consultations, vaccinations, and minor treatments. Students can opt for additional insurance coverage if needed.

Gymkhana Fees: These fees support extracurricular activities, sports events, cultural programs, and recreational facilities on campus. They contribute to the overall development of students beyond academics.

Examination Fees: Covers administrative costs associated with conducting examinations, including paper setting, invigilation, and result processing.

Hostel & Mess Charges

ANU offers various hostel options to accommodate students from different backgrounds. Each block has distinct features and pricing structures:

  • Single Room: ₹20,000 per semester with private bathroom facilities.
  • Double Sharing: ₹18,000 per semester with shared bathroom facilities.
  • Triple Sharing: ₹16,000 per semester with shared bathroom facilities.

The mess billing system is transparent and easy to manage. Students can prepay for meals using mobile apps or cash, ensuring no delays in meal delivery. Rebate policies are available for students who leave campus during certain days or holidays, helping reduce unnecessary charges.

Fee Waivers, Concessions, and Scholarships

ANU recognizes the importance of accessibility in higher education and offers several financial assistance programs:

  • SC/ST/PwD Category: Eligible students receive a 100% fee waiver upon submission of valid certificates.
  • EWS Category: Students from economically weaker sections get a 50% fee concession based on income slabs below ₹8 lakh annually.
  • MCM (Meritorious Children of Martyrs): Full fee waiver is granted to students whose parents were martyred in service of the nation.

The application process involves submitting relevant documents through the online portal or visiting the finance department office. Detailed guidelines and forms are available on the university website for easy access.

Payment Procedures & Refund Policy

Payments must be made before the deadline specified in each semester's notice. Late payments attract a penalty fee of ₹500 per day, up to a maximum of ₹2,000. Students can make payments through net banking, credit/debit cards, or NEFT/RTGS transactions.

Refunds are processed under specific conditions such as withdrawal from the university, transfer to another institution, or cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. Refund requests must be submitted within one month of the event causing the refund. The refund process typically takes 30-45 working days for completion.
