The admission process for the B.Tech Applied Sciences program at Birla Institute of Applied Sciences is highly competitive and merit-based, ensuring that only the most qualified candidates are selected to join our esteemed academic community. The process is designed to identify students with strong foundational knowledge, analytical abilities, and a passion for scientific inquiry.
The primary mode of admission into the Applied Sciences program is through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Candidates who qualify in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, which serves as the gateway to admission at premier institutions like Birla Institute of Applied Sciences.
The JEE Advanced consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each with a maximum score of 300. Both papers cover subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The exam is conducted in offline mode (pen-and-paper) and includes multiple-choice questions, numerical answer type questions, and matching type questions.
Candidates who clear the JEE Advanced examination are ranked based on their performance in the exam. The rank list is published by the conducting authority and serves as the basis for seat allocation through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process.
Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for admission to the Applied Sciences program:
| Category | Qualifying Exam | Minimum Percentage in 12th Grade | Subject Combination | Age Limit |

| PwD (SC/ST) | CBSE / State Boards | 40% | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics | 25 years (as of 1st July of the year of admission) |
Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects in their qualifying examination. Additionally, any candidate with a valid JEE Advanced rank may be eligible even if they did not study all three subjects in class 12, provided they fulfill other eligibility conditions.
The Institute reserves seats for different categories based on government guidelines to ensure equitable representation:
The counseling process for seat allocation is conducted through JoSAA, which allocates seats based on candidate ranks, preferences, and availability of seats in participating institutions.
