The total fee for the entire program is approximately INR 510000, payable in four annual installments. The breakdown of each component is detailed below:
Tuition Fee
The tuition fee covers all academic activities including lectures, laboratory sessions, and access to digital resources. It also includes access to the department's library, research facilities, and career services.
Hostel Rent
Hostel accommodation is provided within campus with shared rooms for two or three students. The rent covers basic amenities such as bedding, furniture, Wi-Fi connectivity, and 24/7 security. Hostels are equipped with common areas, study halls, and recreational facilities.
Mess Advance
The mess advance is a prepayment for meals during the semester. Students can adjust this amount based on their consumption and receive refunds at the end of the semester if they have overpaid.
Student Benevolent Fund
This fund supports students facing financial hardships or emergencies. Contributions are voluntary, but encouraged to promote mutual support within the student community.
Medical Fees
The medical fee covers basic healthcare services including consultations, minor treatments, and emergency care provided by the campus health center.
Gymkhana Fees
This fee provides access to sports facilities, gymnasiums, and recreational activities. It includes equipment maintenance, instructor fees, and organizing sports events.
Examination Fees
The examination fee covers the cost of conducting end-of-semester exams, including proctoring, grading, and result processing.
Hostel & Mess Charges
Students residing on campus have access to well-maintained hostels with modern amenities. Room types include single, double, and triple occupancy options. The mess system operates on a monthly billing cycle, with meals provided at fixed times throughout the day.
Rebate policies are available for students who miss meals due to illness or other valid reasons. Students can apply for rebates through the hostel administration office, providing necessary documentation.
Fee Waivers, Concessions, and Scholarships
The department offers various financial assistance programs to eligible students based on income criteria and academic performance:
- SC/ST/PwD Category: Students belonging to these categories are entitled to a 50% concession on tuition fees.
- EWS Category: Students from economically weaker sections receive a 25% concession on tuition fees.
- MCM (Meritorious Children of Mentally Handicapped): These students receive full fee waivers based on verification of documents.
- Academic Merit Scholarships: Top-performing students may receive partial fee waivers or full scholarships based on their performance in JEE Advanced or other qualifying exams.
The application process for financial aid involves submitting necessary documents such as income certificates, caste certificates (if applicable), and academic records. Applications are reviewed by the scholarship committee, which evaluates eligibility based on predefined criteria.
Payment Procedures & Refund Policy
Payments must be made through online banking or demand draft issued in favor of Kumaun University. The payment deadline is usually one week after the start of each semester. Late payments incur a fee of INR 1000 per day.
In case of withdrawal from the program, students are eligible for a refund according to the university's refund policy:
- Withdrawal within first month: 100% refund
- Withdrawal between 1st and 3rd month: 75% refund
- Withdrawal after 3rd month: No refund
The refund process typically takes 4-6 weeks to complete. Students must submit a written application along with original receipts and withdrawal forms to the finance office.
